Hanwha is now the seventh largest conglomerate in Korea with 25 affiliates and a global network consisting of 37 branches and subsidiaries. The first phase of restructuring was completed in 1999 and Hanwha is now implementing its second phase by following the "selective concentration of resources" strategy.

The priority today is to cultivate new businesses with high growth potential and Hanwha recognizes financial services, retail, leisure, communications and software development as the growth engines for the 21st century. Core competencies continue to be developed in these areas to complement: Hanwha's chemicals and construction capabilities.
